This spring, well-known environmental activist Dr. David Suzuki was in Niagara. NPCF celebrates his work and takes to heart his call to action - Think local. ACT local. Together, we can protect nature across the Niagara Peninsula watershed and safeguard the spaces that ensure we have clean air and water and healthy communities.
In March, during engagements at the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre, NPCA CAO Leilani Lee-Yates and NPCF Chair Brett Harrington presented David Suzuki with a Comfort Maple pen. Symbolic of Niagara’s natural heritage and the significance of stewardship, the limited-edition gold-tone pen celebrates Dr. Suzuki’s 90th birthday and his decades of environmental activism.

In 2025, we celebrated the contributions of Pelham woodturner Marv Ens, marking 10 years of beautifully crafted pens from wood pruned in the care of the iconic Comfort Maple.
